I thought this was never possible! But one night, I just sat down a watched and watched the 1/2 inch convicts(not to try to sex them yet) and have noticed that some had tiny spots on the end of their anal fin and dorsal fin just as older MALE convicts have, and some others didnt have anything on the dorsal fins just like older FEMALE convicts. I took 4 fry into another tank( 2 with the spots and 2 without) and let them grow out in there. To my surprise the 2 with the spots did turn out to be males and the 2 without were females!!! I am 99.9% sure that this works and am testing once more on some other fry.
