I have a 1 and 3/4 inch Dovii right now who will be placed in a 210 gallon tank in about 6 months. I'm wondering what, if any, are possible tankmates. I've pretty much ruled out any other cichlid so I'm thinking the only thing that would survive would be a type of bottom feeder. Does anyone have any suggestions? I was thinking maybe a type of Pleco or possibly some other catfish. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I would get a pair of doviis now for it while they are small and young. Then you could breed them if you ever wanted to. But for the bottom feeders I would go with maybe 2 common plecos, 1 shovel nose cat, and maybe a small shoal of pictus.

I think that I'm going to stick with just one Dovii as I would not want one to get seriously injured or killed during breeding. Do you think that the Pictus or Shovelnose would last with the Dovii? I know that the Pleco would be safe, I'm just not so sure about the cats because they are more active and would cross paths with the Dovii more often and possibly be viewed as a threat to him.

Ity really depends on the individual personality of the Dovii you have. I would try the shovelnose or maybe some bichers. I think the pictus will just be a little 2 small when the Dovii gets some size on him.
