i noticed that when i feed my fish my oscar eat right away but i cannot seem to spot my green terror eating any of the cichlid pellets. do green terrors not like to be seen when they eat, or could there be something wrong with mine?

Is the fish newly introduced? What size tank and the size of the fish?

First thing to do is check water condition, if it's fine, then it's probably your fish is scared of the oscar, or it's newly introduced.

they were both put into the tank at the same time, and they are the only fish in there and they are the first fish to go in there and it has been about four days.

your green terror could still be adjusting to the tank. also you never answered as to what size the tank is and how big the 2 fish are. IME, green terrors are a bit more skittish when they're small whereas oscars are very aggressive eaters. as soon as anything that could be seen as food hits the tank they'll be after it. your oscar may be gobbling up all the food before the gt even knows it's there.

No, you should return both fish unless you have plans for a much larger setup in the near future. In ~3-4 months your oscar will be far too large for a 30 gallon and will require at least, imo, a 75 to live in for life. You may be able to get away with both fish in a 75 but a 5' or 6' tank would be much better. If you'd like I can suggest a lot of different cichlids that would be much better suited for your 30 gallon.

Yea, a 30 gallon wouldnt work out unless you're going to upgrade the tank. The oscar needs 50 gallons by himself, and a 20-30 gallons EXTRA is needed for the GT, bringing the tank to 80 gallons to 70 gallons.

You can return either the oscar or GT and keep either fish in a 50 gallon.

Not only that but soon as they hit the 4 to 5 inch size, the Green Terror might kill your oscar..

The Green Terror is like that when hes the new kid in the tank, he get really shy and hide from other fishes. After he recognize you as his feeder, he be happy to come outside and eat( I have a 3 inch GT doing great with a 16 inch Arowana, not scare of him one bit ), he need some time and you will see his evil side ]:|
