I went to the LFS to pick up a pal for my german ram. One colorful german ram was in a tank with another sort of ram. His eyes were a bit bigger and his fins were a bit larger. They guys tried to sell me on the fact it was a german ram. I wasnt sure. They only had 1 colorful german ram and his pectoral fin was nipped a little. I told the dude I would take him and he gave him to me for free since today was buy 1 get one free day. I just bought my first ram last night. What could this colorless fish have been a golden ram? He was yellow with black on the pectoral fin and black near his eye.

It sounds like it is probably some kind of gold German ram, since I've never seen a Bolivian ram of that color. It would be better if you could show a picture though, of course. If you can get a shot, someone will be able to identify it for you.

Yes it is heavily planted on both ends and open in the middle. In a few weeks I am going to add a school of something. I didnt want to clutter up the middle of the tank at this time.
