I have a german ram..
It is new, bought yesterday..
It won't eat.. I've given it flakes & brine shrimp..
Should I give it more time to get used to it's surroundings?
what would you do?

Wow what A coincidence I bought one yesterday to. It took mine a couple of hours to get used to its surrounding s and only ate for the first time this morning, so give it some time.

Alot of fish won't eat the first day and it's better not to feed them day one while they are stressed out. After you add them to the tank you should turn out the lights and avoid messing with the tank or moving around by the tank too much. The next day put your lights back on their normal schedule and feed the fish. If new fish don't eat after 3-4days then start to worry and try things like frozen or live foods and mixing food up with garlic. Garlic helps stimulates fish to eat.

male to..got it at petland+ 2 kuhlii loaches.
so anyway I fed it a special blend I make of frozen brineshrimp, other frozen organisms such as bloodworms, daphnia etc, flake or small sinking pellets, and I sprinkle paprika on that to bring out the red, orange, and yellow colors in the fish.
I only make this ocasionally but the fish go crazy for it.
I also just fed it some flake and it seemed to like it.
