Dip her head into the bowl of water and the babies will come out. Check if any remaining babies by looking into her mouth with your finger still holding her mouth open...if no more babies, put the mother back into your big tank with her mouth facing up to prevent air staying inside her mouth. And there you go..all babies in your bowl and give your love to them for their rest of their life. The reason why people want to strip babies is that when the mother eventually realise them, if she is in a community tank with other adults, the babies will get eaten within days. At least a few if not all of them. Unless you got another tank just for the mother, otherwise stripping is the best way to ensure surviving babies. Good luck ![]() |

If she does release, she might eat them, which means you would have to be on constant watch. |

I'm sorry but no fry should be worth losing the mother through stress, either in the trap or by hand. |
