If you plan on keeping that fish for any length of time you will need a larger tank. A.rivulatus(sp) is a large fish. 12 inches in captivity is not uncommon. Do not let the common name fool you, this is actually a pretty tame tank fish. Only really gets aggressive during spawning, even then it does not need much territory and "fights" utilizing mouth tugs. That said I would think any fish that can be kept in the same water conditions and won't fit in its mouth would work. Good luck with her, they sure are beautiful fish.

Yes I have heard this many times. But I believe it is mostly defense of territory not actual aggression that causes it. Oscars have a tendency(sp) to wander into the territory of its new world brethren and get its butt kicked. We must also understand that Oscars natural defense is to try to play dead, which makes them vunerable to even smaller cichlids defending territory. I stated earlier that Terrors don't need much territory but that is relative. They are big fish.

i've not kept these fish before and i may be mixing them up with red terrors, but i hear that these fish will get along with various tankmates for a while then one morning you wake up and everything is dead!
