I was just wondering if this sounds right, my green terror, is beating up on my oscar. Theres nothing phicislly wrong with my oscar from the green terror, but the green terrror has taken up a terrortory of about the whole tank! There both juvinlies, not more then 2 inchs long. I was jsut wondeing if this was normal. Thanks

Yes my gt always beat up on my two oscars all the time. I had to get rid of the oscars in the end because they were near death.

I have always stated that oscars do well either alone or in a species tank - not two but many. Oscars, contrary to most rumors are not very aggressive at all. GT's are great but so are oscars. Move the oscar if you can. Oscars are great fish and shouldn't be stressed like that.

hey topher02

i had the same problem about 3 months ago. i got my gt and oscar at the same time and the same size. the gt was always picking on the oscar. but now my oscar is double the size of the gt and he will not get close to the oscar. so wait a couple of months and the oscar will get huge compared to the gt. so if you have a gig enough tank the gt should get about 8" and the oscar about 14". so once they mature attitudes should calm down. good luck

Agreed with the last comment. I didn't take into account the rapid growth rate of the oscar.

There both about 1 inch in a 75, they look really funny, I have to take about 5 minutes to find them both.

i had a green terror with my oscar the green terror tried to fight my oscar the oscar payed him no mind at first but then the oscar had enough of him and put the green terrors mouth in his mouth and showed him who has the bigger jaw and after that the green terror stayed out of his way. in the end the oscar will win.

I agree with fins to some degree. there are some cichlids that make great tankmates for oscars such as severums and chocolate cichldids (Hypselecara temporalis). All 3 of these fish are South American cichlids and are not usually known for aggression. Therefore they will usually do well together provided the tank is large enough.

Another great option for oscars is a school of silver dollars, bala sharks or tinfoil barbs. Only problem here is that especially with the latter 2 you'd need a huge tank. I think 2 oscars and a good sized school of silver dollars would be great in a 125 gallon tank.

Terrors are exactly just that. They aren't really recommended with anything else.
