you should easily be able to do any 2 of the following:

robertsoni, salvini, nic, any thorichthys pair (I'd recommend mixteco gold myself).

you may be able to get by with a robertsoni pair and 2 pairs of thorichthys just make sure the 2 thorichthys pair don't look very similar. for instance, don't get mixteco gold and mixteco blue. in fact, I'd highly recommend against putting 2 different types of mixtecos in the same tank if you have any aspirations of raising and selling fry. I'd go with a robertsoni pair, mixteco gold pair and one pair of Jeff's meeki. raise them up as juveniles with a bunch of platys or swords (some montezumae swords would be awesome) and you should have little to no problems. actually I just noticed that Jeff has 2 types of livebearers (a wild type molly and a wild type platy) either of which would be fantastic. just be aware that robertsoni can be very aggressive to conspecifics but in that size tank with another type of cichlid around you shouldn't have a problem. you could mix in a pair of Honduran red points or Archocentrus panamensis as well instead of one of the thorichthys species. the panamensis actually would be a nice addition because you'd have them (which are red), robertsoni (which are turquoise) and get the mixteco golds (which are just gorgeous as adults) and you would have one gorgeous tank.

a pair of argentea would be awesome but I wouldn't recommend putting anything else with them which, imo would be kind of a waste of a 125 gallon tank. I believe they only grow to around 10" so a pair should be great in something like a 75 but then again if you're ok with just one pair in a 125 then give them a shot.

Im thinking of this now
3 Archo panamensis or spinosissimus
3 Crypto Cutteri, Sajica, or Hondo Red points
1 Nic
2/trios thorichthys species

sounds pretty good. one question...do you have any interest in breeding the species you're getting multiples of? if so then trios may not work especially with young thorichthys which are much harder to sex.

of what you've picked, I'd go with panamensis, honduran red point, meeki, and mixteco golds. I promise with mixteco golds you won't regret it. I've seen adults of every species of Thorichthys at Rusty Wessel's place (he's the guy who supplies Jeff with all Thorichthys and many others) and my favorite by far was the mixteco golds.

add something like this and you've got a great looking tank.

No Convicts

IMO, my male convict is the most entertaining fellow in my tank

honduran red points and A. panamensis are very closely related to the convict, so they have a lot of the same personality, not nearly as much aggression and a whole lot more color.
