I have a pair of German rams in a 10 gallon tank along with four neon tetras. I have had the rams for about 4 weeks now and most of the time they hide in the rocks. Is there any way I can make them come out more? They are eating fine and the water chemistry is normal.

Sometimes it can take rams a while to get used to their new surroundings. I would just wait a little while, as long as they're eating, they'll be fine. Also, I would add two more neon tetras to your tank. I don't know whether rams need dither fish or not, but the tetras would be much happier in a larger group. Don't worry about overstocking, tetras add very little to a tank's bioload.

And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."

What kind of decor is in the tank? Is it mainly plain with rocks? Rams like a lot of vegetaion (real or false) to swim around - helps them feel protected. If they feel too exposed from a bare tank they will mostly stay in hiding.

I agree. Rams really enjoy a well planted tank. It provides them with much more security than even that of dithers.

I have two Rams alone in a heavily planted 20 gallon spawning tank, and they are all over the tank all the time.
