	How long before Shellies breed?
Dempsey fan Mega Fish Posts: 915 Kudos: 201 Votes: 3 Registered: 02-Aug-2000	I'm getting my shellies tomorrow and I was just wondering how long it takes them to get settled in and start breeding. I know it can depend on a lot of things but what's the general time slot? I've heard around 4 months, is this accurate?

littlemousling Conchiform Posts: 5230 Registered: 23-Aug-2003	With multis, it's often much less time than that, but it depends on a lot of factors - how old they are when they arrive, what you feed them, how much space they have, the reproduction drive of each fish ... if you were getting adults, I'd say it could be as little as a week (for the spawn; the fry won't emerge from the shell for about a week after that). But if you're getting young juvies, it could be as much as four to six months. -Molly Visit shelldwellers.com!

Read my post in General Aquaria titled "NEVER USE DHL SHIPPING" to find out why......as if it's not self explanatory enough.
