I've got a 38 gallon tank (3 feet long). I'm getting some german rams tomorrow but I can't make up my mind on how many I should get. Here's the current stocking:

3 platies
6 black neons
4 Corydoras arcuatus

with my final plans being
4 platies
9 black neons
6 C. arcuatus
the rams
1 keyhole cichlid
1 BN pleco

I was thinking 3-4 rams, would either number be better? The ones that got ordered are "medium" so I might be able to sex them. Or would you say a different number would be better?

3 would be fine....4 would be better. If you do 3, say one male and 2 female, the male will choose the lady he wants and they will harass the other so bad you will prolly need to take her out. If you can get 2 males and 2 females, the couples should get along reasonably well. I have 2 couples in my 55, and I only see the males challenge each other once in a while.....it's SO cute.

A couple of pairs will do fine, a 38 is big enough so that they arent on top of each other when breeding time comes around. I wouldnt go higher than that though, blues arent as tolerant of other males as the bolivians are.
