Ok from what I've read on these Cichlids, and what I know from my own experiences, this is what I would do:

If you have another small tank or have the space for one, move the 2 fry (or more if you've found anymore) to it. Setting it up similar in temperature, pH and such as the tank they are currently in (I would just take the water from the tank they are in now, and top off the other tank)

They can be fed brine shrimp, and/or crushed foods that you normally feed your adults. How I choose to crush my foods for the fry is easy. Take some of each food that you feed the adults, place them into a ziplock bag, and seal it withou any air (sandwich is plenty) then rub it between your palms till it is dust, or you can use a rolling pin...then I tend to feed straight from the bag, unless you have an empty food container laying around.

Keep constant on your water changes, since it is fry we are talking about I'd try to go 2x a week 50%, and feed 2-3 times a day. Knowing that most of us are working it's hard...feed when you first get up, when you first get home, and before bed...Also keeping some plants in with them gives them the protection they feel they need, and something to snack on during the day...

Best of luck and let us know--Heidi

I know nothing about cichlids, but was thinking you could use a net breeder to protect the fry. That's what I did for my guppies... easier on you because they stay in the same tank, and the water circulates through the netting, so you don't have to worry about the water quality in a small tank. I just used a turkey baster to remove waste and extra food from the net. *shrugs*

good luck catching them.

if for any reason you don't successfully raise the 2 fry, don't worry. If they breed once, they'll breed again.

The breeder net might work, but from what i've read they are very aggressive, and i've seen angels suck fry through a breeder net, so i wouldn't put it past your cichlids to do the same...Heidi

Yikes! now i wouldnt want that...i unfortunately dont have another tank to put them in, so i am willing to see how long they can survive in my tank, and if i get desperate, maybe i'll do something with my bettas who are in a 10 gallon with a divider and move them elsewhere... i want them to live.. they are adorable!

Just leave them there. If you have enough hiding places, they'll survive. When my Elec.Yellow breeded, I left the fry in the tank, as i couldn't catch them, & some of them survived.
Don't use the net breeder & Yes, Angels can suck the fry from it.

My yellow labs ,metraclima greshakeis and now my red zebras have all bred successfully and with no intervention from myself or with any particular care ,as long as they have places to hide away, they will pick up the crumbs left over at feeding time from the other tank inhabitants and look after themselves.

Gibson SG you know you want one!!
