and i would want it to be centered around an electric blue jack dempsey. I have heard they are smaller and less aggressive than regular ones. I also like their colors a lot. Is it non aggressive enough to live with a severum? Any info or experience with these fish would be very welcome. thanks.

I had a reg. Jack dempsey and he got pushed around by my snake skin gourami. my JD loves to eat feeder guppies. he likes to chase them around the tank and then eat them. the blue ones are cool looking. you could put it with a suverem and a RTB and a raphel catfish.

Would a Texas Cichlid be too aggressive to put with an electric blue JD?

from what i understand, the blues are more timid than the normal ones, why I don't know but that does not matter any way because a 55 gallon tank is barley enough to hold one large cichlid let alone two but the jack should be fine by himself in a 55.

a texas cichlid would kill a blue JD mine is 1" long and it attacks my 3" convict cichlids that are breeding and gets in lip locks with them and holds them to the ground.

the male convict likes to mess around with my texas in the texas cichlid gets mad and chases him around the tank in till he will give up.

so dont put the Blue JD in that tank he will get killed.no texases in that tank. My fish love live food they will freely eat it at any time. My fish will eat crickets out of my hand.

get what i told you to get in my other post.

Man, from everything I've seen and read there ain't nothing that will do well in a tank with a Texas cichlid. Are they that mean?? Jeez.....maybe I'll just do some small, timid ccichlids in a 55 like German Blue rams and Angel Fish. SHEESH!!

If you enter cookie cutter 55 into Google, you should see a link to a page where various community setups for 55 gallon tanks are suggested. Actually angels and Rams is one suggestion (South American), but thats only one of many choices.
