will a jack destroy plants? ive herd various stories n as being a cichlid i guess its all on the fish but in general what r all yer experiences?

if the tank is 55gal-125gal id say he would but if the tank is over 200gal id say he wouldnt

thats ridiculous, are you suggesting that if the tank is large enough the the dempsey may never come across the plant in the tank??? They will tear it up or dig it up or nibble on it eventually regardless of tank size.

the trick is to anchor the plants so they can't be uprooted. clay/terracota pots will work as will siliconing the plants to a rock.
