I've got 20 jewel fry in a 30G. I know it's over stocked but I haven't gotten around to taking them to the LFS. Some are inch and a half, others still only 3/4 inch long or even less. Funny how some grow much faster than others. Been 7 months now.
Question: Anyone have experience with them breeding in such a crowded tank?

If they have all come from the same brood, then you don't want them to breed any more. That won't produce good quality stock.

if you want to keep some to breed, return the males, keep some females. Your gene lines will pass on from females with the new males.

I had 80 fry in my 50 gallon tank along with the dad. I just recently took them back to the LFS. I kept four for my tank At my LFS they would not take them until the were 1.5" - 2" so I was crowded for a little while. These guys loved to eat though...really liked the frozen shrimp. All I did was feed them once a day and did my water changes
