I just bought 2 jewels for my tank 2nd tank. I don't know why maybe somebody can answer this but this set almost instantly turned color. One turned BRIGHT red and the 2nd turned yellow. I bought them the night before and they were there normal grayish color and when I work up the next day they had color. My other 2 in my other tank it took a while to turn, maybe 1 month. But that was only once they started breeding......i am just wondering why this happens.

It might have something to do with the conditions they were kept in at the store. If normally colorful fish are crowded, underfed, or stressed, they can lose their color.

Almost certainly as a result of superior qualtiy water in your tank to the LFS if it was that instant.
