Ok i finally found a male to go with my two females, they are about 3inches and my male is about 2, he is getting picked on by the two females and a tangerine zebra, i have tried to add a couple of feeder fish to distract them but they do not take any notice of them they just go straight for the male

dither fish dont work with mbuna they keep majority of there aggression to there own kind u need alot of rock work for them to hide in n disperse there aggression
the females most likely have set up there terriotorys in the tank adding the male he has no place to go
u can try taking out all the fish n adding them back in after changing the tank setup around this will break all preexisting territories
this is why ppl tend to overstock n crowd mbuna more fish less space they cant make territories

And I'll second that

With Johanii your male:female should be 1m:5-8f min.
As their Melanochromis they tend to be way up there on the aggression ladder. you'll really need more females.

Also as these guys get big I'm going to have to say a 75g, is a min.

Good luck
