I was at another LFS looking for some Keyhole cichlids when the lady showed me these Juli. trans. She said that they could go in a community tank as well. As I stated in other posts I have a black and white scheme going in my tank. Does anyone know much about this fish. She kept calling it a black and white juli. I am looking for some reliable info because my lfs info has been shaky.

My tank- 46gallon bow front.

2-Peal gourami
9-Black phantom tetras
7-Albino corys

They are from Lake Tanganyika in Africa and thrive in very hard water with a pH of 8 and above. Your Cory's and the Tetras on the other hand are from South America and thrive on a pH of 7 or below. Try to find cichlids from South America like the Keyhole if possible since they are way more compatible.

Thank you very much for the information. That is why I do not listen to my lfs. I can not count the number of times I would have made mistakes if it was not for this site. Do you have any recommendations to complete my tank.

There are really not many cichlids that are black and white and are peaceful enough to go with your community tank setup (at least I can't think of any) so keep searching for the Keyhole cichlid.
