I went to Neptunes Gardens by Fuqua, and picked up 4 nice Yellow Electrics, put them in with the PL*CO and the 3 Tetras, that had cycled the Tank.
Everybody is getting along, the PL*CO got ousted from his cave ,but retook it later. I set up some extra rock caves, reloaded the Carbon, and will put some Java ferns in next week.
Wish me luck

they are Black skirt Tetras about the size of a Susan B Anthony, but I will move them to the 10 gal, I have to acclimate them to the lower PH of the tank.

they will still get eaten by the eletric yellows so i would move them (the tetras) how big is that tank that you have them in (eletric yellows)?

I can't really see black skirts getting eaten, especially if the labs are juvis. But it was good that you moved them anyway, the ph differences don't work too well!

Hope you're enjoying your labs!

They are very cool fish, I will add some filtration and put some Cories in next week either some leopards or Julia if I can find them, maybe 4 of them.
With luck I can wrangle a 65 Gallon from Budget control

I don't recommend Corydoras with Elec. Yellow.

No, cories and electric yellows don't go too well together. Cories are too small, the labs will beat them up. Bristlenose make better bottom feeders; their armour protects them from the labs. And yes, there are ph differences here too but the bristlenose never seem to worry too much, often they will even breed in a cichlid tank (though the fry probably wouldn't survive if left in there!)

Synodontis are really the best bottom feeders for african cichlids, some of them are from the rift lakes themselves so they enjoy the same water conditions, and synodontis multipunctatus (cuckoo cats) use the mouthbrooding cichlids to breed themselves; they lay their eggs at the same time as the female cichlid, then when she scoops up her eggs she gets the syno's eggs too and inadvertantly raises them in her mouth. Very sneaky! Cuckoo cats get to be around 5" and they enjoy being in groups of at least 3, so they may not be good for the 20 gallon. But in a larger tank they make a great addition to the malawi community.
