I just got 4 Julis this past weekend. It is 3 different types... I will have to remember to bring in the names... but I want to know, will they eat flake food? I know they like the veggie-tation, so I have clipped a hunk of dried seaweed to the glass, I just don't know what else to feed them. They seem really shy and are constantly chilling under rocks and such. Will they become more active? I plan to get 4 more soon. Same kinds I have now. Thanks for any help.

Julidochromis live in very close contact to rocks, they'll get more active as they get comfortable. But mine always darted straight for their caves....

Personally I'd get a good number of one species, rather than mixing several juli species. Much easier as far as aggression goes and you won't get an odd pair and end up with hybrid fry. Which could easily happen

Very nice fish though and congrats

Congratulations on your new acquisition and I agree with Mr Cichlid that you are going to be much better off with several of one species rather than a mix of several species. Anyways enjoy.

Enjoy your Julis & try to get more of the same species & they'll be much better.
Most of the time they'll stay very close to the rocks.
