Im not sure it will do so well when apporaching a greater age though. That tank is a bit cramped too, but its probably at a shop. |

monkeyboy Fish Addict Posts: 521 Kudos: 375 Votes: 223 Registered: 10-Apr-2005 | This is what a beautiful FH looks like. I've had her since November, and thank god its a female, I can't stand how the males look. And as far as agressive, she is extremely agressive and will take down anything that is in the tank with her. Shes about 6 inches long right now. Once she gets going more, I'll get a better pic that shows all her color http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b48/monkeyboy000/fish/FH-061407.jpg But I agree, those 2 in the original post, it does look like their bodys was compressed some how Fish tanks are an expensive addiction |

Chingmixusa Fingerling Posts: 26 Kudos: 5 Votes: 0 Registered: 14-Jun-2007 | Thats a beautiful female Monkeyboy. She also has a nice sized head for a female flowerhorn. I am pretty sure she carrys the red dragon zhen zhu genes which will also give offsprings with nice big heads. Do keep us updated if you get successful in breeding her. You will have your hands full once you get a few batches. It a lot of work also. Keep up the great work. Chingmixusa |

monkeyboy Fish Addict Posts: 521 Kudos: 375 Votes: 223 Registered: 10-Apr-2005 | thanks I'd have to read up on the breading if I planned on it. But as of right now I'm not. Because as agressive as she is, I have to make sure I got it all right before I tried, as I'm very sure she would kill anything else that trys to get into her tank Fish tanks are an expensive addiction |

monkeyboy Fish Addict Posts: 521 Kudos: 375 Votes: 223 Registered: 10-Apr-2005 | from my understanding, the bulge on the head is an affect of the cross breading. it is alot smaller in the females than in the males. which is again why i'm glad it is a female and thanks again, she has a very wide diet of foods. like 6 different things and she gets something different each day Fish tanks are an expensive addiction |

monkeyboy Fish Addict Posts: 521 Kudos: 375 Votes: 223 Registered: 10-Apr-2005 | She's very happy fish. But mostly her diet consists of large cichlid pellets, frozen brine shrimp, frozen blood worms, frozen krill. Sometimes about once or twice a month, when I can get them, she gets a dozen glass shrimp. She goes crazy for them. And when I can find small snails, she enjoys them also. And once so far, she has got live feeders. I will do that on very few times, as it is a treat in the diet and also helps her to keep up her speed and agility. Fish tanks are an expensive addiction |

Chingmixusa Fingerling Posts: 26 Kudos: 5 Votes: 0 Registered: 14-Jun-2007 | The Bulge on the head consist of bones and fatty acids. If the fish has the genes, the bones will grow to allow more fatty acids to fill in. So basically, there are some bones and rest is fat. Chingmixusa |
