That's about 30/31 US gallons, and I've kept kribs in my tank which is a similar volume and is 36" long. I couldn't imagine keeping another cichlid with a spawning pair. A single or two of the same sex could be OK with keyholes, but spawning kribs are not very friendly with other bottom dwellers. If your tank were 48", I'd say give it a go. Eric |

Initially it had a very dark color but changed over the course of about 15 minutes to its "regular" colors and was exploring the whole aquarium (38 gallons). Can kribs be kept singly in a community aquarium to avoid the aggressive behavior during mating? |

If you have a male it avoids egg binding issues that the females may occassionally get in the absence of a male. Kribs can be scrappers sometimes, but if the other fish leave them alone, then they dont usually start trouble. For a small cichlid though, they are capable of defending themselves and an area surprisingly well. |
