Or maybe even something else? I tried to get some pictures that best show the colors and markings...any thoughts or opinions? ![]() ![]() ![]() ~~~~~~~~~~~~ There is water at the bottom of the ocean |

If the photos include both of your fish, then they are probably females. I understand that males have brighter coloration, and all that. |

The other is rather shy, but I managed to get these two shots. They're about the same size, this one doesn't have markings as dark as the other. ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by Theresa_M at 01-Dec-2004 09:21 ~~~~~~~~~~~~ There is water at the bottom of the ocean |

When ready to spawn, dorsigera (dorsiger/dorsigerus depending on where you reference it) will have much more red underneath. I'm leaning towards a dorsigera due to the pink overtones I can see in the pictures. Conditions are the same for both species (soft, acidic water for breeding). Keep up water changes; they can be a little sensitive to nitrates. If they are a pair and spawn, they are supposed to be territorial, but I've read of an occasional pair that can be fairly aggressive in guarding eggs and fry. It's great that you found them, as they're not commonly found in many parts. A very nice fish! |
