i was wondering if there is a way to sex the electric yellow labs. I want 1 male and 3 females in my aquarium. I was told by the guy at petsmart that the males have a pointed anal fin, while the females anal fin is rounded. Is this true? any information would be apreciated

I haven't heard of that, so I can't comment there.
I have read that males often have more black on their anal fins then female labs do, though that isn't accurate all of the time. Yellow labs are supposedly hard to sex, but there might be an expert out there that is willing to help you.

I've read that its true also that males are slightly larger and are much more colorful at breeding time. Also noticing the differeces in my male and female the bottom part of the males mouth is an off white(grayish) color to where the female is yellow. Not really sure though if that would mean anything though.
