I lost my angelfish recently, and am now looking to replace her. I currently have a 65 gallon SA-style setup

What would everyone recommend for a med-large cichlid to go in the tank? It has to be peacful enough to coexist with the other inhabitants of the tank (1 Keyhole, white clouds, 2 cories, 3x bristlenose*), but not so timid that you never see it.

TIA!

(*Hopefully soon to be 2 keyholes and 6 cories

Why not get a couple more angel fish? I think it would probably be about one of your best choices.

All fish can be aggresive or paceful. You could get a really peaceful Oscar or a super agressive Discus. Just the luck of the draw

Yeah ,but lets be honest the chances of putting an oscar in this tank without it at some point making a meal out of most everything in the tank is at best slim to none.

I agree with cichlid keeper on the angelfish idea. Even then a full grown angel could make a snack of some of your white clouds. And I don't think it is a question of being aggressive or peaceful if a fish gets eaten but one of nature. Big fish eat small fish!

Festivum Cichlids are usually a good choice, like angels though they have some bad apples.

Point well taken Cichlidiot, I large enough angelfish may well indeed decide to make a meal out of the white clouds.
The major draw back to the festivum cichlid is the fact that it does become aggressive during spawning.

I second the Severum. I've had 4 and only one of them was cranky. I still have the three nice ones. The other was the biggest and couldn't get along with anyone so I sold him.

Good luck, Mike

i like the severum idea also! the discus might work too depending on your current PH. the discus would be alittle mellower than the Severum i think.

well I have kept both angel and severums in my tank and both are great choices but i would probably go for the severum only for personality I currently got in my tank 4 severums only (angels passed away) and they are doing just fine, there's the ocassional chace but really really rare.

I wouldn't recommend a chocolate. They very IMMENSELY from fish to fish. Some can be community fish and others are downright nasty. Probably the most diverse cichlid of them all as far as temerpment goes. I would go with a Uaru. A giant teddy bear of a cichlid.
