AHHHH!!!! just came home this afternoon and found my oscar on its side breathing very hard. His skin on his forehad and arround his face have been rip off or missing, and his fins are shreded into tiny little arrows. He look like he was suffering really bad. I check my ph, it was at 7, i then check my Ammo, it was at 0, and everything else was fine. At about 6 pm, he departed with a mysterious death. Please help the poor little guy to find the cause of his quick death. Let him rest in peace

Sorry to hear about your loss. Sounds like he was killed by an overly aggressive tankmate. Which oscar was it? I see in your sig. that you have 2 tanks with oscars.

That's a bummer. Oscars are such cool fish. Kind of like a Labrador retriever, always happy to see you.

Sorry, Mike

Sorry.

Was it in the tank with the Oscar before? Maybe there is something in that tank or, given the condition of the Oscar, maybe the Electric Yellow and the Oscar had a border dispute. Or Maybe the Terror got them both. How big were they and were thay all still in the 10?

Mike

Maybe there is some disease in the water and nothing has surfaced. I have had similar problems with fish before, they suddenly die for no reason. However, the sick oscar sounds like he was attacked. You may want to pay closer attention to what is happening in that tank because something serious may be going on.

srry for not giving alot of detail.

well, after my oscar die, I got suspicious on my GT, then i put a divider in the 250 g and put him in there. Now only a electric yellow and a pleco was left, he look normal until one hour later, when he flip to his side(still breathing) after another hour, he die.

I suspect the Yellow dying had something to do with the GT attacking, either it totally freaked out while the Oscar was being attacked and the stress killed it or the GT kicked its ---.

When an animal exerts itself physically lactic acid builds up in the blood. Its toxic and too much can be fatal that's part of the reason fish die when they are getting picked on but no apparent damage is done.

I'd do a huge water change before you put anything back in that tank, just in case.

Again sorry for your loss, Mike

Maybe your oxygen level is being depleted. Is the water filled too much to the top? Is there enough surface area for aeration? You might want to add an airstone
