I've read that Blue Ram live only 1-2 years? But what about Bolivian Rams? Since they are hardier, do they live longer?

Yes, I do believe that Bolivian rams live longer. I think it's around 2-3 years, though it may be more.

My guess would be 3-5 years. Mine are probably at least a year old at this point (I've had them 8 months, they were at the LFS 2-3 months before I bought them). They tend to spawn later which often is indicative of a longer lifespan.

Rams live from 2-3 years.

Jasonpisani - regular/blue/gold/german rams, 2-3 is right on, but bolivians are not the normal ram. From bits I've read on the net, 3-5 seems more reasonable. I'll let you know when time's up, though...

I have a friend that breeds them for profit, and they actually live 5-6 years if porperly cared for. And, they will get up to 4 inches if mature. I have seen it, he has about 3 pair that large. Bolivian rams and german rams are about equally hardy.

My Bolivian Rams are 2 ~ 2.5 years old and just started spawning this year! They are both about 4" long and spawn like clock work every 28 days now. She lays her eggs on a flat rock on the bottom of the tank, they have been very good parents. I would also guess there life span to be somewhere between 4~6 years. I give mine regular water changes right along with the rest of my fish and move them from tank to tank and leave there babies in the exiting tank, so far I have had no trouble with them. Good Luck
