I suspect they are a mutation, not a hybrid. I also suspect the can breed with a normal Ram. If you do that at least some of the offspring will carry the gene for long fins even if none of them have long fins. It may show up in future generations.

not sure but i think it is not a hybrid. it is just another varity of rams.

Though I don't see the question, I'll still help. Long-finned rams are the same species of fish as the normal German rams, just bred to have long fins. They are not hybrids of any fish, the long-finned version is just a variety of the regular fish. They can definitely breed with normal rams.

Ooops, I was testing the functions

Heres the original post:

Are these another one of those "not good hybrid" fish??? I have seen them today at the LFS and they look exactly like normal rams except longer fins.

Should I get some and can they breed with the normal ram?
