I have 2 P.acei and 3 L.caeruleus. The tank is small for a cichlid tank and I am considering trying the overcrowded methed. What are some good species to add (not P. socolofi they did not work well with yellow labs) to this smaller setup?

How small? If anything I'd add another (female) P. acei. Overcrowding, if you ask me, isn't a "method" - it's what was necessary before people understood the differences between mbuna species, and is not longer necessary. Plus, it's one thing to overcrowd a very large tank; overloading a small one is begging for it to crash.

I agree with LittleM. Dont overcrowd cichlids. If you are looking for a diff fish, try a Synodontis in the tank. Otherwise I would need to know the tank size to comment. I'm betting on a 30g. If it is , go against the odds and get a Calvus. But do get it small. They do OK with Mbuna. Give us the tank size and we will rack our brains to find you a little flavor. If its an aggresion issue, I find Acei way too aggresive for the EL's, IME. But many other recommend them. It comes down to personal fish's personalitly.

ok i'm a repeater, what size of tank are we talking about? That is going to say a lot of what you can or can't add. Also how much shelter, caves, hiding holes do you have?

I would add a couple of [link=rusties]http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/profiles/rusty.xml" style="COLOR: #FF1493[/link] they are rather nice and stay smaller...just my thought...heidi

If memory serves. I don't think you can get any more fish... 29g seems to ring a bell...

What is the tank size? Might be better to just increase the number of what you already have.
