I got a bit snap-happy this morning, I usually drive myself insane trying to get good fish pics. Today I used the evil flash, and while it washes out some of the gorgeous colour these fish display in real life, the trade-off is that I at least got some good clear shots without the usual blur! I managed to crop out the flash reflection in most of them too.

The big bonus is that I finally got some halfway decent pics of JoJo, my beautiful male johannii, which I have been trying to do for months. They still don't quite do him justice, but give a bit of an idea of what a stunning little fellow he is.

Apologies to dial-up people, there's quite a few!

The first one: a male pseudotropheus crabro

A crabro with a pseudotropheus socolofi:

Male labidochromis caeruleus, Electric Yellow (he's the sole electric yellow survivor of February's heat wave

JoJo (Melanochromis johannii) with a crabro and a socolofi:

JoJo again...it's unfortunate that he wasn't showing his face in this pic, but it does show his gorgeous finnage.

More JoJo

And again...you can't half tell who my favourite fish is, can you?

A male labidochromis hongi. He's probably second in the rank of the hongis and about 3rd or 4th in the tank overall. I would have liked to get a pic of the huge, dominant male hongi but he spends too much time defending his cave.

Haha, he looks like a torpedo in the first one!

Those are so gorgeous. I'm jealous of your johanni. I'd love to have one but I only have a 55 gallon tank.

Fishiedude: Not really. Johannii are extremely aggressive, especially as adults. My male rules over my tank, and it is 120 gallons. In a tank less than 55, there would be no territory for the other fish!

As always, there are exceptions but it's generally not recommended!

Ya I have kind of noticed that he is one of the most aggressive, but right now he isn't being too bad. He also doesn't seem to be growing much anymore so that is good. I think my zebra keeps him in line though...

Edit: How big will he get because as I said he doesn't seem to be growing anymore. I have seen them quite large but mine is only around 3-3/1/2 inches. I'm not going to have to get rid of him am I because he really is a pretty fish and he is 2nd oldest in my tank.

Another Edit: And while I'm at it: I have 6 baby yellow labs which I am going to eventually move to the 55 gallon so they can grow up, and I can sex them to see which I want to keep, which could possibly be all of them. I'm sure I wont have much room if any after they are in. If I do have room, what are a couple single fish that I could put in to finish it off? Current inhabitants: Mr. Torpedo, a male zebra of some variety, a severum, a firemouth, and 2 plecos. Thanks for your help.

Fishiedude: I'm afraid I'm one of those purist types that don't believe in mixing african and american cichlids - so the only reccommendation I could give you would be to make it an all-mbuna tank! (which you know would be great )

Yes I thought you might be one of those types. No offense or anything, but some people say go for it and some say NEVER. Anyways my americans are my favorite so I think the stock will stay the same.
