I've never been able to tell what kind of Mbuna I have. When I bought them over a year ago they were sold as "assorted Mbuna". There seem to be so many different varieties of the Mbuna flock, I'm not really sure what I have.
I have some pictures of them on my homepage. The camera isn't a very good one but maybe it will be good enough for someone who knows these fish to be able to tell me what they are? Thanks for any help.

As you have several pics of Mbunas on your homepage, I would suggest you link the one you are interested in for this question, to this thread.

Here's three pictures. Again, sorry the camera isn't very good.

I hope I did this right. I guess I'll find out once I click the "post reply" button.

As the pics are very low quality and very fuzzy, I can only take wild guesses

1) Very small and very fuzzy, could be anything from a Kenyii to a Lamp sexfasciatus

2) My guess here is some kind of zebra

3) Very fuzzy, could be an afra of some kind, and Elongatus of some kind, a flavus. Very hard to even guess.

Sorry. . . . .

Thanks for taking a stab at it. I know the pictures could be a lot better. Maybe if I stopped spending all my money on sporting goods and activities I could get a good camera.
Nonetheless, you've given me a better idea of what I have than I had. Thanks!

1. Depends on the age of the fish - is it a juvi or grown up? If it's a juvi I'd say a female (or young male) kenyi, if it's a grown-up it could be any number of species with that colouring, possibly a male saulosi or something.

2. Probably a red zebra, metriaclima estherae. Could also possibly be a female saulosi.

3. My best guess is an OB zebra.

1=has the uneven bars & coloration of a female m. lombardoi (kenyi)
2=m. estherae (red zebra)
3=a cynotilapia afra of some sorts. i would not rule out a elongatus either.

I'm not sure of their age. I've had them for a little more than a year. They were about 1 inch when I got them and they're about 4 inches now. Again, I appreciate all your suggestions, especially considering the crummy photos you had to go by.
