Hi all. First post since the website cache. I have a 37.5 tank with 2 yellow labs, 2 Trewavasae (or Fuelleborni? or something else?), 2 Johannii and 1 Pleco. Now, I'm worried about the Pleco. He hides in one of the many caves a lot. When he comes out, he is often harrassed by one of the Johannii. Also. I've seen the Trewavasae (or whatever) and the labs, will occasionally jerk and twitch around, up against the glass, down to the gravel or limestone rocks. It looks like some kind of demonstrative behavior, but I'm not sure what.

I am wondering about the setup. I want to add more fish to balance out the ones I have now. Also, would it be helpful for me to try to post a pic of my unknown fish and let s/o tell me what it is? All help would be appreciated.

I would get the Johanni outta there as they get big and aggressive. As for the yellows and the peacocks, they are just tring to mark their territory by "scraping" against stuff(unless you have a parasite ). What kind of Pl*co is in there and do research to find out what type of peacocks you have. Tank is small for Malawi setup so be good to stick with 4-5 Yellows and just 1 male peacock and a small Plec(Bristlenose or sumptin). Good luck!

Your Johanni isn't compatible with your peacocks and it will also grow too large for the tank he's in now. I completely agree with what Stallion said in having just Yellows with the Peacocks. Yellows are the only Mbuna that are compatible with Peacocks. I don't know what kind of pleco you have, but unless it's a bristlenose, it will also get too large for your tank.

I think that you probably have a parasite in your tank if the fish are both twitching and rubbing up against tank decor. You might want to start a thread in the hospital forum about the best way to get rid of them. (I've never had them before, so I can't really advise you.)

Good luck with your setup, and let us know if we can help you further.
