She has been very protective of her pot and turfing all the pebbles out of it for the last few weeks the other parrot is staying close by and is chasing anyone who dares to come near. I know that 99% of these fish are infertile but who knows we may get some little parrots floating about although I don't hold up much hope on the matter lol ![]() http://www.greenspersonalprinting.com/ |

The male is no not leaving the pot and woo be tide anyone who comes near lol. The eggs at the moment are white in colour but could someone please let me know what colour they will become if fertilized and how long it will take foe them to change colour? What should I do also if the eggs are not fertilized? Many Thanks Tessa http://www.greenspersonalprinting.com/ |

I'm going to say there's a pretty good chance the eggs will not be fertilized. It is males that are typically sterile. I think it's around 95% or maybe more of male blood parrots are sterile. the females on the other hand are normally capable of laying viable eggs, but she has to have them fertilized by something other than a male parrot. ![]() ![]() if the eggs are not fertilized then just leave them there. the parents will eventually realize and dispose of them for you. ![]() |

I think it is 99% of males that are infertile so it is very unlikely that they will ever hatch. The eggs are still white at the moment but I am not sure how long it takes for them to turn brownish so I am just leaving the pair to carry on protecting them which they seem to be doing a very good job of. I always thought you had to get rid of the eggs once you knew they were infertile as they can upset the water? Maybe this is not so? I will update again watch this space lol http://www.greenspersonalprinting.com/ |

If they are still guarding the eggs in a couple of days and they get all fungasy (is that a word? ![]() ![]() |

Mind you the father is still not so keen to abandon them and still hangs around alot. http://www.greenspersonalprinting.com/ |
