I've been noticed that every so often that one or more of my Angel fish is producing white waste and at time it clear and black/brown. For example there is some colored waste then clear then more clolored waste. Is this an issue or is that just part of natural fish digestion?
I feed them Tetramin procrisps, the ocasional freeze dried baby shrimp, and Romain lettuce. Haven't ever seen this fish eat the lettuce though.
Its a 55 gallon tank. Amonia is in the safe zone on the test kit. The PH is around 7.6 but its just about always been that way for me. Don't have NitrAte or NitrIte tester.
I did just have an issue with another Angel fish having I guess what you would call white cottonish things on its long thin fins(can't think of the name right now). Treated for fungus cause thats what it checked out looking like. but the clear happened before then and the white just happend recently.

ahh ick is a white parastite, usually found on the fins, but in bad cases they will move to the body, they look like grains of sugar or salt, the cottony stuff u refered to is cotton wool, usually bacterial, and is a variation of culiminaris (sp?) it kills in 12-24 hours after appearence if not treated, it can also be a sign of infection, and can easly be cured with melafix and a dose of salt, depending on the species of fish

What do you mean by ammonia in the "safe" zone? Ammonia should always be ZERO... except in cycling tanks, but in my opinion, fish shouldn't be in cycling tanks. A nitrate test is very important to have, too.

Now that I'm done lecturing.

White feces could be a digestive problem. If it's all white, too, you may have a female angel who is reabsorbing eggs she had inside of her.

EDIT: Oops, sorry...I explained the fungus thing, but realized it had alreayd been cured later

By safe zone I meant Zero, sorry for the error there. My tank has been establised for at least 4 monts. Before I put my fish into it I moved the old filter over to the new tank. Which I had establised for at least a year, and ran that for a week along with the new filter. Fish transfered over fine with no problems and no loss.
What about the clear and colored waste at the same time? Is that just natural as well. I haven't seen that in a while just wanted to make sure that its not an issue that I need to take care of quickly next time I see it.
Also what would cause nitrate and or nitrites to be high. I'll hopefully be able to get the testers for that soon.

Sorry the response is a little late. My fish are all healthy, and I see it from time to time, too. I don't think it's a problem to worry about, unless ALL of it is white and they seem to have a hard time, uhh...getting it out.

Just like we digest things differently and some things don't "go over well" with us, fish get the same way sometimes too But it isn't like, illness or anything, I'm pretty sure, since I see it all the time. Hope this helped!
