Hi cichlid experts, time to test your knowledge !

Is the one in front a sulpherhead maylandi ? (tried to identify thru web research)

The lighter one in the back a red empress ? The girl in the LFS said was a red empress but according to the pic in the fish identifier of this site, it looks nothing like !

Thanks in advance for any help.

fish in the back looks like either a juvenile male, or female red empress. I'm not sure at what size males start to color up.

Hmm, I guess it IS a Red Empress ! It says they're pretty aggresive, this one seems pretty peaceful so far, it socializes with the other small cichlids quite well. That would be quite a color change to match the one in the site profile.

Yes please do identify the one in front in case I'm wrong.

It's in a 90 gal corner tank with...

A 1 foot tiger oscar, scarlet kribensis, 4 line catfish (related to pictus only a bit smaller), and the (?) sulphurhead maylandi cihlid.

I used to have a Red Empress, and she was very peaceful. I wouldn't keep it with an Oscar, though.

The Red Empress is larger than the other small cichlids in the tank, therefore should be safe. The majority of african cichlids can easily outswim and out-think oscars.. Just have to make sure they're not too aggressive for the oscar.
(that's happened before)

Any ID on the other cichlid yet ?
