I have a 2inch female Convict in a 29gallon tank, she seems to be hunting around the tank for a place to clear. She looks full of eggs, could she be depositing them? If so should I go and buy a male Convict?

if you want to be overrun with fry then go ahead and buy a male. I'd think about what you're going to do with all the fry though before buying a male. while owning a pair of breeding cichlids can be very rewarding, in the case of convicts it's really more of a pain. more than likely you won't be able to find an lfs to take the fry. there are auctions on aquabid all the time for free or nearly free convicts that go without bids because they're so easy to spawn.

if you don't get a male the female may still deposit the eggs. however they'll obviously not be fertilized and she'll wind up eating them.
