New 25 Gal | |
judz Enthusiast Posts: 256 Kudos: 160 Votes: 5 Registered: 06-Jun-2005 | i have a new 25 gal that im thinking of using for chilides i have had great luck with tropical fish but want to try something new. i really like having plants in my tanks, but i have noticed that most like eating or up rooting plants. i like really colourfull fish. any sugg for starting this tank? |

Smaller New World cichlids such as keyholes, apistos, rams. Kribs are Africans but don't require the higher pH and alkalinity that Rift lake Africans do. My favorite recommendation would be Tangs but you'd be limited on plants that could grow in that type water. I have two shellie tanks and one Tang community; the only plant I've tried in those is Java fern, which is actually growing quite well. Then you could finish with some small schooling upper water fish for dithers, or a larger mid-upper water cichlid like a festivum or keyhole.
