well, i've reviewed several time what i WAS planning on going with, and i've changed all but one fish,

i'm now gonna get
6 Synodontis Petricola
6 Black Calvus
6-8 Cyprichromis leptosoma kigoma
4 Julie Dickfeldi

what kinda substrate should i use since i now have they syno cats???
is it possible to plant a tank like this??

any idea, help, et cetra welcome

Well for substrate you could use fine round gravel, crushed coral, cichlid substrate(ECO), or sand. I'm not sure about plants in sand though. I keep a few amazons in my Tang tank, substrate is a mix of ECO and crushed coral and the plants do ok. Just make sure those Petricola are DWARF as the tank is only a 55. Good luck.

i'm gonna go with the "Pepper Mix" ECO complete, and i'm gonna have 3 main rock piles, on in the back right, one in the back left, and one in the middle, i'm figuring maybe around 40lbs of texas holy rock?
