hey everyone, i am thinking about getting a new 75 gallon freshwater, but i dont know what to put in. i have a couple that interest me. i will list them and i want to hear what everyone thinks will work best. i will get a school of about 3 silver dollars as dithers and i want 2 out of these fish, whether you think pair is best, but i would rather 2 different cichlids:

Jack Demspey
Green Terror
Convict
Salvini
Blue Acara
Datnoids
Some sort of pike

i would like 2 chiclids out of those and im open to other ideas but for now those are what i am interested in. thanx

ok first and foremost the datnoids are out. from what I understand all datnoid species grow very large...in the 16-18" range.

you could keep a single pair of any of the rest of them (excluding the pikes--sure there are some species you could easily keep in a 75 but I haven't done much research on pikes so I couldn't make recommendations to you) with little to no trouble at all.

you may be able to get by with:

female JD and female GT
female JD or female GT and female salvini or female con
female JD or female GT and female salvini or female con or either sex blue acara
male con and female salvini or male salvini and female con
male blue acara and female salvini or female con

that's why most of my recommendations were to keep a male of one species and female of another though there is always the risk of crossbreeding, or keep 2 females.

thanks, im thinkin either a green terror with jack dempsey, or green terror with a salvini. they would all be females, but i dont know much about the salvini, how big does it get? teeth? more aggressive than a demspey?
