Remember me mentioning the existence of two new Apistogramma species some time ago? Well, I have updates!

This PDF document is the complete description of both Apistogramma salpinction and Apistogramma angayuara from the Rio Trombetas.

While salpinction is a species that fits into a relatively familiar mould as far as Apistos go, angayuara is something that should be on the 'wish list' of every Apisto keeper worldwide - the world's first and only "super dwarf" cichlid! This fish is a Cichlid that is only 25mm long! All specimens discovered to date have been 25mm or less in SL, and the species is thus the IDEAL Cichlid for the smaller aquarium.

Look out for this when it finally makes it into the aquarium trade, because it will be a winner! Assuming of course, that you can afford the silly prices that will inevitably be charged for it when the first specimens reach the West ...

I was just checking out your link. It looks pretty neat but I haven't really read the whole thing. Was really hoping for color pictures.

Black and white shots are suggestive of panduro style colouration though. If it turns out to be like a miniature panduro, then it's going to be a little jewel of a fish ...
