Yesterday was a pretty stressful day for them...they were shipped from VAncouver, unloaded at local lfs, loaded into my bag and put in my aquarium...(I know some people say to wait a week for them to settle in at the lfs before purchase, but if you do that around here there's nothing left to buy They have been hiding behind a rock since last night. They venture out a few inches, and then if I approach the tank at all, they hide again. Are they very shy? Generally how long until they get comfortable? They are absolutely beautiful...one is silver with only a few black spots, and one is silver with more black markings, but not too many...I don't know if it's a marble or not...

it sounds like they are stressed, very badly. I work at a LFS and we always have to let our new fish set for at least 24 hours. They are stessed enoguht as it is going from who knows where to us then into our water, then swooped right up again and into your water. That is very stressful on a fish. Esspecilly IMO angels which can become stessed out farly easy. How long have they been in the tank? Have you seen them eat? So they are very stressed and the best theing you can do is just keep that water still, dont do any water changes for a few days and maybe turn your filter down, minamize the currents as much as possilble. Keep us updated, if you have seen them eat that is a VERY good thing, that means there just shy little guys.

This is normal for new angels I would say. Angels are can be very hard to get to survive at first. The first week they are usually very stressed. Good luck.

Don't wory though if they do survive they wont always be that weak and stressed out. They get tougher and tamer.

Also, should I attempt to feed them yet? Do they prefer flake or bloodworms?

Give them time to settle down, it may take a few days. I think the fins will heal & you can feed them some Bloodworms after 24 hours.

Just keep us informed how they're doing & are there any other fish in the tank?.

I would try feeding them. Theyll eat bloodworms or flake. If they eat its a very good sign, if they dont its a very bad sign. The fin will heal as long as its just webbing, if its actually part of the boneish part it may not heal right. To speed up and help the healing process plus prevent the chance of infection you may want to use some melafix. Depending on how bad it is etc..

There are currently no other fish in the tank. I am planning a school of Rummynose tetras and some kind of corys. Probably not for awhile though...I did give them some blood worms but then got involved with the computer and didn't watch to see if they ate them. I don't see the worms anymore...but they could be in with the floating plants in the tank. They seem quite active now, they are pecking at stuff like plants, etc. Maybe they are hungry. I've never owned angels before...they are quite interesting to watch!

Shredded fins are e to infection, especially fungus. I'd dose some melafix asap.
