You will probably know in the next day or two if they are fertile.
Actually, a breeding pair of angels wont lay every week, but about once every 14-19 days.
I too suggest planting some broad leaf plants, or getting a "Discus Spawning Cone"
These could be removed to hatch the eggs yourself.

well i dont think the eggs were fertilized, because there were no male guarding the eggs, only the female, maybe she just felt like laying eggs?

Don't worry much. If you have a pair they will spawn again soon. Try to see them laying eggs, so you'll be able to see, which is the female & the male.

Goodluck for the next time & hopefully it will be very soon, in 10-20 days.

yeah i am thinking about leaving only a pair in the tank now, cuz if they do breed twice a month, the other fish are gonna get beat down pretty bad...

the thing is.. i dont know which one is the male yet its been 24 hours now, and eggs are still golden, and still only guarded by that same fish

i will have broad leaf plants in my tank, in fact i have amazon swords right now, but they are covered with algea, but i purchased new substrate (eco-complete) and co2 tank so hopefully that will get rid of the algea soon. and like 5 of the eggs are on my jungle val so thats cool too

so it is possible that after spawning, the female got too agressive and fended off the male? i am so confused now

First, Congratulations for your Angels & second, just leave the nature take it's course. They might eat the eggs for the first few spawns & it's better to see them mating to be 100% sure if they're males or females. I also recommend to get a tank & just leave the pair in it, so no one will bother them & they can take care of the eggs in peace. You might also leave a small light at night, so the Angels will keep an eye on the eggs.

i have a 29 gallon tank, 4 angels 2 are about 2.5 inches, other 2 are only 2 inches... i just got home this morning 10 minutes ago, and saw some "bubbles" on my filter intake tube, i took a closer look, and they were eggs!!!!

now one of the bigger one is fending off all other 3 angels, so i am guessing there is no mating in this case?? could i have all 4 females?? omg

anything i should do now?? what if the male did do his part, and the female chased him away lateR? is that possible?? i never had my angels lay eggs before, HELP!!!!

and eggs on filter tube is SUPER dangerous too, what should i do???

shes fanning the eggs it looks like... i hope things will be okay...

congrats.. if the angels are young they will most likely eat the eggs.. so if you want to raise the fry i would suggest incubating them.. although they are on the filter which cannot be removed i would suggest maybe planting some broad leafed plants like anubias that they can start laying on in future.. if u have a breeding pair they will spawn once every week or so.. i would recomend raising the eggs after 3 or more spawns..
congrats!!

right on, i sure hope theres a couple...

but the thing is that the eggs are laid right above where the water flows in of my filter, i am worried once they hatch (if they do) theyll all get sucked in the filter, and i cant move them anywhere ...

its night now, i'll take a few more shots in the morning, dont wanna wake them up, lets hope the eggs will be golden still... how long will i have to wait if they are no fertile??

Green- That is definetly a female angel.
And those eggs sure look fertile.
If they turn white they arent fertilized, if they stay nice and golden like that they are fertile, which would mean you definetly have a male in there.
Watch the angels- one that stays near the female is likely the male. Look for his Papillae- it will be a tiny pointy breeding tube, barely noticeable compared to her.
If you could post pics of your other angels, I may be able to ID the male for you

I didn't think thank Angels would lay eggs when they were that small. Although they are cichils and well cichlids like to make babies!

hey man to breed is easy, you just gotta get a male/female, know what they want, then give them what they want + good water, thats all...

so its been a while now, female still guarding... i dont know whats going on...

now i am watching them closely, i am not even sure if that was the female, but her breeding tube is pink and kinda fat.

so shes staying on the right side of the tank, and the other big one is in the middle of the tank keeps trying to get close to the filter tube, and sometimes fight back to the female. the smaller 2 angels just chill at the left corner... hope that helps...

here she is... sorry kinda blurry, and my tank is being attacked with algea plus i am in the process of a makeover for the tank...
