After much deliberation Im thinking of the following for my 65g.

4 yellow labs
3 cyno afra 'red top'
3 Ps Acei
3 Red zebra
3 Rusties
1 synodontis of some kind or a bristlenose

1 male of each species and the rest female where possible.

Anyone forsee any problems with that?

I would lose one species and get more of the others... So you should have 4-5 of 4 species, mbunas like to have a substantial number of the same species around.

I agree with John. You could certainly try it that way though, and it may work on the basis that you have selected fairly peaceful species for the most part where the males shouldn't get too agro about not having enough females.

Synodontis generally prefer to be in trios or more, too!

Other than that I think it's a good mix, some lovely species there and not too much aggression!

Well I finally stocked the tank and took your advice on leaving one species out. I now have 4 yellow labs, 4 maylandia estherae, 4 Ps Acei and 3 cyno afras. Planning on adding a bristlenose but havent been able to get a hold of one yet.

Yep. I have sand and caves. I do need some more rock but I'll take that out of the 20 Ive been using as a temporary home for the labs and the afras while the 65 has been cycling.

I'll post pics once the new ones are out of QT.
