I just bought an oscar about 3 days ago...i find he's acting weird...he's all alone in a 44 gallon tank...he's about 1.5 inches long...but he seems to be hiding all the time...he hides in the rocks and doesen't move much...and when he does swim around a little, he sort of swims sideways, is that normal?? i'm kinda worried

he sounds to me like he is still unsure of his new home and is still on the lookout for preditors coming to eat him, was the tank cycled before you put him in there if not that could be part of the weird behavior, if the tank is fish ready give him a few more days to relax and get used to his new home:%)

The difference between 'involvement' and 'commitment' is like an bacon and egg breakfast: the chicken was 'involved' - the pig was 'committed'."

My oscar did that aswell. Oscars, IMO seem to be more of the easier cichlids to stress out. Just let him settle in

You'll soon learn that oscar are big babies and like to show you when they're not happy about something
Our did the same thing as well

ok thanks people you were right he's already acting better...he swims around all the time and now eats like he should what a great fish...this gives me even more intention on getting a huge tank filled with cichlids...they are pretty great.
