Well.. i just bought another catfish to clean the algea on my tank and to my surprise its dissapere the next day.. I had 2 fish in my tank 2 oscar one is about 15cm and another is about 12cm and another catfish about 7-8cm. One day i was thinking about getting another catfish to accompany the catfish that already there.. so i got one about 2-3cm (the only one left in the shop) but the next day its gone!.. i reckon my be the large oscar job!

if it turns out to be the oscar and your tank is of a decent size, look for one stinking huge pleco. A 2-3cm fish in an oscar tank is just asking to become food.

But you just have to love the fact you own a fish that can eat pretty much any other fish!

1 Large Oscar - $50
20 Catfish - $200
Satisfaction of knowing your fish can eat it's tankmates - priceless!

it is priceless.

But then whack an oscar in a tank with a fish like; a snakehead, red devil or a school of RBP. then you'll relise he wont eat them.

My tank capacity: 122x38x31
US Gallons: 37.97
UK Gallons: 31.62

The other thing is.. ive got 2 filter and the water still get murky after 5-6 days... and everytime i wash it.. after finish everything.... crystal clear water etc etc and i put the fish back in.. within a second the two oscar start to 'poo' like no body business.. i means surely they can 'poo' inside the bucket when i was cleaning that tank.. but no no they just had to 'poo' in the fresh and clean water in the tank ]:|

Why do you remove your fish? That tank will eventfully be too small for Oscars, if not already. You can clean the tank with your Oscars inside it. They'll just move to the other end. In fact my in-laws do, and its quite funny watching them nip at her ring on her finger, and playing with the hand etc. Her Oscars be 10 -12" around abouts.
Pooing: Perhaps its all the stress from moving them into buckets and then back into the tank. I never heard of anyone removing fish like Oscars. I removed my Bettas mainly because the tanks where too small to clean with them inside.
How is your ammonia.? With this pooing thing going on, this can cause your water to become murky. The poo settles onto the bottom floor and along comes the catfish and swish it around with his body, stirring it up.
