I'll be out of town over the holidays for about 5-6 days and I'm hoping this is not too long. I don't really want to stock the tank with feeders before I go because it'll create a huge mess (plus he'd probably just eat them all on the first day). Any thoughts on this? |

They are primarily plaster of paris, and from what I have heard, will cause a worse mess than the feeder fish. Really, for 5-6 days, your oscar would be just fine without food. Fish can go for 10-12 days without food. If you truly want him to be fed, buy an automatic feeder. Walmart sells them for 14.99 canadian, around 10.99-11.99 american approx. I am not sure if this is a good brand, but im sure it would be reliable enough for 5-6 days. Make sure you run it for a day before you go to make sure it works right.
