Hey I'm more knowledgeable in Oscars and larger cichlids but I recently have gotten a 55 gallon tank setup with 2 Blood parrots, and 1 upside down catfish which is at his full size of 6 inches, my question is do you guys think my tank can handle a firemouth, they only get around 6 inches and I think he would add to the look of the tank. I have a fluval 404 and emp 400 for my filtration so I got that covered, I just wanted a 2nd opinion on whether you think it might be overstocked. Thanks for any advice. And I'm not a newb or anything I just like a 2nd opinion on this one before I get one.

I personally would say go nutz but others might disagree with me. The parrots get big and are going to be pushing the 55 gallon by themselves. They probably won't reach peak size but i have two in a 33 gallon and they are as happy as can be, or so it seems. Again, i'd wait for others to confirm but you've got the green light from me.

go for it, you have room for a few more

Yeah, I agree. You have room for a few more fish. You could get a pair of Firemouths or maybe even a Firemouth and a JD. Severums and Convicts would also be possibilities.

personally i think that tank is already full, and plus i believe that a JD would rip apart the cat, and probabbly terrorize the parrots

firemouths would be a good choice but the severum is where the blood parrots came from, the severum and midas mix so severums would be a good choice too.

IMO I think that tank is already kinda full as well.

But if you keep up with water changes and if the filtration is tip top then I guess you may be able to add 1-2 firemouths if you "really" want too.

It's your decision
