Thought ya'll might like to see some in a tank. The only problem is colmanairis sp* kept killing them. I went through 10 of them trying to keep them.

I might try again. Any suggestions as to how to get rid of this disease? Yes I tried erithromycin sp*.

You might just want to try tank bread angels. they are easier to care for

F1 Altums probably cost as much if not more, as they reportedly have longer intervals of "abstinence", in which they don't breed, plus the fact that there are only, at any given moment, probably only a handful of individuals worldwide that own breeders. That being said, there is great demand for them, despite the difficulty of breeding. Furthermore, erythro not only kills off your bio filter, but it doesn't seem to help with anything but bacterial and certain fungal infections.

Cup you know me. Why would you come at me like I don't know what I'm doing? If your trying to help, then I ask that you think about who you are talking to.

1. Good luck finding wild caught (true) P. Altums let alone being the 1 in a million person that knows someone that knows someone who has bred them and has viable F1s.

2. Unless I'm mistaken (it can happen) erythro "is" the recommended treatment. Am I wrong? If so don't just tell me I'm wrong. Tell me what is right.

3. Why on earth would you think that I didn't "know" what this med does to the Bacteria?

Come on man show me a lil respect. Don't be fooled by the avatar....I know what the heck I'm doing.

I started this thread to show those who have not seen these great animals in a tank a chance to see what they look like. I did not start it to get advice on what kind of angel I should keep, and I did not start it to find out that my meds won't work.

I naturally assumed that starting a thread of this sort of manner and the lines "any suggestions...how to treat..." naturally meant I was allowed to provide imput as to why prior attempts might not have worked as well.

1. "Good luck finding wild caught (true) P. Altums let alone being the 1 in a million person that knows someone that knows someone who has bred them and has viable F1s."

I can find as many altums as I want. Both The Fish Place in Temecula and the one on Carmel Mt. sell them in large numbers and they come in regularly. Plus, new auctions come up every other week on aquabid selling alts. Frankly, I don't need any luck--just some motivation and a couple bucks worth of gas . I've been particularly big on angel breeding in the earlier years of settling into the hobby, and frankly, I've just lost interest. Heck, I recently sold away my last blacky/gold (veil) pair. Besdies, my comment relating to this particular topic wasn't directed towards you, but at angeladdict, who inquired as to why you didn't purchase tank bred specimens.

2. "Unless I'm mistaken (it can happen) erythro "is" the recommended treatment. Am I wrong? If so don't just tell me I'm wrong. Tell me what is right."

Anti-bacterial meds are effective if administered from the start. However, the degratory effects of erythro often stresses out the fish, leaving them free for the bacterium to ravage prior before being eliminated. Erythro itself also tends to do a mediocre job internally without the supplement of injested medication. I've had much success in using terramycin along with medicated foods at treating columnaris. Lights go out, and temps are warmed slightly.

"3. Why on earth would you think that I didn't "know" what this med does to the Bacteria?"

What, am I supposed to read your mind now? I was merely adding it as a note of precaution, in case you DIDN'T know.
