Hi, I need some help here. I'm a beginner when it comes to breeding. I've only bread Bettas and Convicts before. Now I want to try african cichlids. I'm debating on what to choose. I'm thinking either Yellow Labs or Kenyis. The tank is a 29 gallon. Which of these 2 fish would be the easier fish to breed for a novice like myself? I like the Kenyis just because they are easy to sex, unlike the labs. What does everyone else think I should go with?

I think you'd have trouble with either of those in a 29; it's only 30" long, after all.
But there are a number of Tanganyikan species that are easy to breed and would do very well in a 29 - N. leleupi for that BRIGHT orange, or a Julidochromis species for lovely patterning, or a shellie for spunk and fun, for example.

You can try some Brichardi. They are great parents & not very fussy.

I second the last two posts. Tanganyikan cichlids are easier, and I think more interesting (personal preference). Leleupis are very bright and eye-catching, julidochromis are unique and beautifully patterned, brichardis have an elegant overall shape Also, they will all fit just fine in your tank.
